Back from Newcastle

Well, last night Dave and I were in Newcastle for my first attempt at doing live stand up. And strangely enough it went quite well! I was crapping myself but apparently I came across very confident and did very well for my first time according to the very much appreciated feedback I got back from the compere, Dave and the other comics!

I got a few laughs, more laughs than I thought I'd get, so I was very happy. The main worry for me, apart from the obvious was that the material I'd written was based on the insecurities straight people face with homosexuality. I was worried in case the material came across as homophobic (which was definitely not what I was going for!) but at the same time, I didn't want to water it down and dilute the humour. But luckily the gags were well received!

So that's the hardest part over, I've proved to myself I can get up and perform comedy live to people. Now the plan is for me and Dave to work together on material for the upcoming gigs in Edinburgh. We have some separate ideas which should easily marry into some great material, then all it's down to is worrying about delivery.

On the back of last night's efforts I've been welcomed back to perform on more new material nights at the Hyena and have been invited to book a slot at another new material night in Newcastle with the guys who run longlivecomedy.com

Anyway, not much else to say other than I shared the stage with some excellent performers who I look forward to hopefully performing along side again soon!
Dave filmed my performance and I've uploaded it to YouTube, so go and have a look!
